Koleton Hardy comes from a prominent wrestling family in Utah,
with enough kin on the mat to make up his own wrestling
team.
But Koleton is a formidable wrestler in his own right. He is a very
skilled technician who, when the chips are down, also has
the toughness to make it through the toughest matches.
He's a very smart wrestler who, if he knows that something will work, isn't afraid to
tell his coach that he's going with something of his own
design. And it worked out for him his senior year, where he went a very impressive 53-0 (one of only two undefeated seniors in Utah that year) and won his second straight state title, pinning Tooele star Zach Coffman in less than a minute in the finals. Koleton pinned another star in the first round, Hurricane's Zach Prince (who also won a second state title last year), at the All-Star Dual. As a junior, he won that elusive state
title, destroying Payson stud Kaelen Loveless 9-0 to get
to the finals, where he beat Uintah's Damon Mele 4-2. He also pinned North Summit star Dixon Richins at the All-Star Dual. In
April 2010, he was once again in the finals at the prestigious
Reno World Championships and won the USA Wrestling Junior
Western Regional Championships in freestyle. As a sophomore, he dominated his opponents
in the state tournament, until the finals, where he fell
short against Mt. Crest's mat monster Raider Lofthouse in
a 5-3 decision, after beating Lofthouse earlier in the
season at the Richardson Memorial. In April 2009, he
won the prestigious Reno World Championships, one of only
two Utah wrestlers to rise to that height that year. As a freshman, he finished third in state,
after losing a decision to Wyatt Ray of Roy (who went on
to finish as the state runner-up). In April 2008, he
finished second at the Reno World Championships, placing
ahead of South Summit's Jonsen Crandall and Payson's Brock
Brown. In June 2008, he was the folkstyle and Greco-Roman
champion at the USA Wrestling Western Regional
Championships and runner-up in freestyle. He
followed that with a fourth place finish in Greco-Roman at
USA Wrestling Cadet Nationals in Fargo. Koleton is a
champion in all three styles of wrestling (folkstyle,
freestyle and Greco-Roman), with a resume that anyone
should respect. He has
represented Utah twice on the Utah All-Star Team against
the Ohio All-Stars and dominated his opponent
July 2007.
