Barraclough No. 1 in NCAA Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA announced its second coaches panel rankings and first RPI ahead of next month's NCAA Championships in Philadelphia. The Wolverines had two in the panel rankings and four in the RPI.

Utah Valley was well represented in the first RPI, led by 22-1 Terrell Barraclough who came in No. 1 in the rankings at 165, ahead of two Big 12 foes, Peyton Hall (West Virginia) and Cameron Amine (Oklahoma State) both of whom he has beaten this season. Redshirt junior Haiden Drury and 197-pounder Kael Bennie both came in at No. 30. Jack Forbes, who has been in and out of the rankings this year, was ranked at No. 33.

The RPI is a calculation that consists of three factors: winning percentage, opponent winning percentage (strength of schedule), and opponent's opponent winning percentage (opponent's strength of schedule). Only matches against Division I opponents at the designated weight class count toward the RPI, and a wrestler needs to have wrestled 15 matches to be ranked.

In the midseason Coaches Panel rankings, Utah Valley had two ranked with Barraclough came in at No. 3 only behind Penn State's Mitchell Mesenbrink and Iowa's Mike Caliendo. Drury received 213 points to finish at No. 18, seventh in the Big 12 conference.

The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of 16 coaches in each weight class with two head coaches from each of the eight conferences. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. Wrestlers must have eight Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.

The Wolverines will host (RV) Northern Colorado on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7:00 p.m. MT inside Lockhart Arena. It will be Senior Night with Barraclough and Kase Mauger, both being honored.
