Wasatch Sweeps Up Duals Meet

Wasatch wrestling coach Ben VomBaur knew
the Wasps were good, but he did not know how they matched
up against the rest of Utah's teams.
After going undefeated at the Wasatch
Intermountain Duals tournament on Friday and Saturday, he
has a much better idea.
"I expected to win the tournament; I
didn't know exactly what to expect with the competition,"
VomBaur, who is in his first year of coaching at Wasatch,
said. "We won all of our duals pretty handily."
Many of the state's best teams competed in
Heber City, including Box Elder, Spanish Fork, Lehi,
Brighton and Mountain Crest. Wasatch went 8-0, while Box
Elder took second place.
"I have a lot of confidence in our team,"
VomBaur said. "The team has really taken to the style of
wrestling that I'm trying to implement."
Undefeated wrestlers from Wasatch included
Cyler Sanderson at 140 pounds, Casey Smith (112), Shayne
Bonner (119) and Dallin Norton (275). Norton pinned all
eight of his opponents.
