District Honors Chamberlain with Athletic Award

Nebo School District is proud to recognize Springville High School athlete Jason Chamberlain as the recipient of the "Award of Excellence in Athletics." This is the first year for this award.

From Jason's ninth-grade year until now he has proven to be the top wrestler in the nation.¬ Jason has great characteristics and winning attitude along with being extremely humble.¬ Being a great wrestler is just an added bonus.¬

Jason's record of 191-2 includes 98 pins and four state championships. He holds the record for the most wins and best record in two undefeated seasons.

Jason was a team captain on his high school wrestling team and was honored by USA Utah as the "Wrestler of the Year" in 2007. He was a Junior National Freestyle champion and Greco-Roman runner-up in 2007. In both 2006 and 2007, he was the NHSCA national champion.¬ He has been the recipient of the Academic All-Region award from the Utah High School Activities Association the past four years.

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum selected Jason Chamberlain as the 2008 state and regional winner of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award. Jason attended Honors Weekend on May 30-31 to personally accept this award.

He has served as a teachers aid in sports medicine classes and as a volunteer youth leader for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. He has spent numerous volunteer hours coaching and officiating youth wrestling activities and was a camp counselor for the Rulon Gardner summer camp.

He carried a 3.75 GPA and will be attending Boise State University on an athletic/academic scholarship next fall as a student-wrestler. He is projected to wrestle at 141 pounds in college.
