Former Lone Peak grappler Blake Mangum has accepted a
wrestling scholarship to the University of Oklahoma.
Mangum transferred to Wasatch for his senior year,
where he earned a state title at 125 lbs. and was also
part of the school's 3A title team.
A three-time region champion, he placed all four
years at the state meet. He earned the All-American
distinction by finishing seventh at the national senior
wrestling tournament held in Virginia Beach.
In the W.I.N. magazine final rankings, he was ninth
in the nation at 125, and 17th for all classification
rankings. He finished his senior season with a 46-4
record and was 182-26 overall with 103 pins in high
school.
Mangum will probably redshirt this season, but could
be pulled out during the year. He also received interest
from Stanford, Air Force, Iowa State, Northern Illinois,
UVU and Portland State.
