The NORTHSIDE Wrestling Club continues to sponsor Woods
Cross resident Ben Castleberry as he make his
humanitarian trips to Ecuador.
Castleberry brings care
packages to the South American country that include
everything from toys for children and essentials for
families. These photos are from last year’s trip and
Castleberry is scheduled to leave in early December for
another trip, which is also sponsored by the Northside
Wrestling Club.
“I think it’s very important that the athletes be
involved in something positive like this,” said
Northside Wrestling coach Shandell Smoot. “It helps them
understand how blessed we are here and it also gives
them ownership over something bigger and more important
than wrestling.”
“I appreciate the Northside Wrestling Club and their
willingness to help make these trips possible,”
Castleberry said. “It’s always exciting to see the looks
on the faces of these people when we help them. I enjoy
letting Shandell and the team know how the trip went
when I get back.”
Castleberry is a 2003 graduate of Woods Cross High
School. He is wearing the Superman shirt.
