West Valley Youth Named Among Outstanding Wrestlers

Tyler Jensen of West Valley City, a novice wrestler in the 60 pound division, was one of three Outstanding Wrestler award winners during the Mountain Top Wrestling Club's annual dinner held in Bell Canyon.

The club recognized several of its members for excellence on the wrestling mat during the past season. Joining Jensen with top honors were William Kilpack of Sandy in the Novice 80 pound division and Tayler Johnson of Draper in Midget 65 pounds.

"This has been a great year, with so many new and supportive parents, which is absolutely essential to kids being able to develop and succeed in this sport" said Coach Bill Kilpack (III). "Wrestling is the hardest sport there is. Without strong family support, it's a seriously tough go. We wanted to make sure that the parents know how much we appreciate everything they do. We wanted all the guys to know that their hard work is valued. In addition, we recognized 13 leaders within the team for taking things the next level, as well as one parent who really went the extra mile this year."

This season, Jensen took state in junior high as a sixth grader, as well as taking state in both freestyle and Greco-Roman and placed at the USA Wrestling Western Regional Championships.

The award recipients were selected by the Mountain Top Wrestling Club coaching staff.

Mountain Top Wrestling Club is open to male and female athletes ages four and older who live anywhere in the state of Utah. Practices will resume at the beginning of next season in January 2007 at Jordan High School.
