Wrestling
Brighton's Knox
ranked No. 2: Brighton sophomore Talan Knox is ranked No.
2 in the nation among sophomores and freshmen at 140
pounds by Wrestling USA magazine. Knox took second
in state last year as a freshman and is Cadet National
champion in freestyle wrestling.
Other
Utah sophomores ranked in
the top four included Jake Swensen of North Sanpete (No. 3
at 119) and Nathaniel Holt of Provo (No. 4 at 135).
Other standouts include
Tyrell Sweat of Wasatch (No. 10 at 135), Carson Brown of
Wasatch (No. 30 at 112) and Tag Elliott of Bear River (No.
30 at 125).
Bill Kilpack, Utah Editor for
the magazine, has chosen Swensen as the preseason pick for
the state's most outstanding sophomore wrestler, and Knox
as a wrestler to watch.
Others picked by Kilpack to
have great seasons: Luke Lofthouse of Mountain Crest,
Michael
Watts of Riverton and
Taylorsville junior Josh Pappas.
