Forfeits Doom Utah Valley wrestling
OREM — Utah Valley State could not
overcome losing 12 points to forfeits and lost to Northern
Colorado 23-21 in college wrestling action Monday night.
Of the seven matches staged (UVSC
forfeited two, Northern Colorado one), the Wolverines won
four.
The Wolverines led 18-17 late in the
match, but the Bears went back ahead with the second UVSC
forfeit. Ivan Bigney recorded a 10-3 victory over Tim
Sexton in the final match, at 184 pounds, but he needed at
least a technical fall to prevent a Wolverine loss.
UVSC's other victories came from Erkin
Tadzhimetov, who pinned Adam Garcia at 133 pounds; Daniel
Polkowske, who rallied to beat Richard Lohr 7-6 at 141
pounds; and Tanner Cowan defeated Nathan Garrard 4-1 at
157.
