Reno Champions Will Join Other Top Wrestlers

Fresh off their impressive wins at the Reno Tournament of Champions last week, Brighton's Talan Knox and Provo's Nathaniel Holt have been selected to participate in the 5th Annual Utah All-Star Classic wrestling tournament at Utah Valley State College next week.

They will join 26 other elite wrestlers as the large schools (5-A and 4-A) take on the small schools (3-A, 2-A and 1-A) in the grudge match.

The event begins at 7 p.m. on Jan. 4.

Here are the matchups, with the small-school wrestler listed first:

103 - Tanner Teeples (Millard) vs. Keola Goodman (Pleasant Grove). 112 - Jared Shepherd (Delta) vs. Kolby Bradley (Springville).

119 - Levi Mele (Uintah) vs. Shay Warren (Weber). 125 - Jake Madsen (Bear River) vs. Jason Chamberlain (Springville).

130 - Mark Pentz (Millard) vs. Michael Holt (Provo). 135 - Jake Revoir (Juab) vs. Ryan Gonzales (Payson).

140 - Jake Salazar (Wasatch) vs. Sean Porter (Davis). 145 - Josh Wilson (Morgan) vs. Nathaniel Holt (Provo).

152 - Paul Sanders (San Juan) vs. David Wiser (Viewmont). 160 - Wade Eldredge (Monticello) vs. Talon Knox (Brighton).

171 - Carson Brown (Wasatch) vs. Phillip Rutledge (Mountain Crest). 189 - Kenny Scott (Hurricane) vs. Jorge Lopez (Weber).

215 - Trent Steele (Delta) vs. Rhett Robinson (Box Elder). 275 - Zane Taylor (Grand) vs. Sterling Coons (Lone Peak).
