JV Wins Viewmont; Bee Wrestlers Place High at Tournaments
Box Elder wrestlers had an impressive
finish at the Brute Reno Tournament of Champions early
last week, finishing 13th in a field of 88 teams from all
over the United States.
Earlier, the Bee Junior Varsity won the
Viewmont Invitational Wrestling meet by a large margin
over the next highest team.
At Reno, the Bees scored 109.5 points,
compared to Easton Area High School from Easton,
Pennsylvania, which scored 171.5 points. Only one other
Utah High School, Wasatch High School, was ahead of Box
Elder as the Wasps had 171.0 points to finish just
one-half point behind the winner.
Casey Fromm finished fifth in the
145-npound class, while Brett Boyce finished fourth in the
189-pound class. They were the Beesí top point-getters.
In the Viewmont meet, Be JV wrestlers
grabbed points in 11 of 14 weight divisions. Cody Tolman
(119), Jaren Jensen (145) and Skyler Rackham (152) each
were champions in their respective weight divisions.
Cody Caldwell finished second (135) while
Lynn Walker (160), Kolby Williamson (140) and Duncan
Wright (275) all had third placed finishes. Wade Miles
(103) had a fourth while Bailey Flint (125) and Jared
Iverson (130) each finished fifth. Kelton Hardy (189) was
sixth.
