UVSC Dual Season Opening

Orem, Utah — Utah Valley State will get its dual season
underway as the Wolverines head to Colorado for two
tournaments in two days. On Saturday, UV will
compete in the Jack Hancock Dual Invitational in Golden,
Colo., before moving to an open format for the Old
Chicago/Northern Colorado Open in Greeley, Colo., on
"We are excited to wrestle Oregon State," head coach Greg
Williams said. "It will be a good opportunity for our
younger guys to see where we expect to be. We are focusing
on improvement each week."
Injuries have hendered UV early in the season. The
Wolverines have lost Daniel Polkowske (133) to a shoulder
injury. Also, Alex Knight (133) and Richard Winger (141)
have been lost for the season with knee injuries.
The Wolverines officially got their season underway last
week at the Cowboy Open at the University of Wyoming.
Several wrestlers came away with wins including Richard
Winger, who led all UV attached wrestlers with 10 team
points including a pair of pins. Unattached wrestlers Ben
Kjar (second place) and Gerhart Vuksinick (third place)
placed in their respective weights.
At the Jack Hancock Dual Invitational, Utah Valley will
get underway with a match at 9:30 a.m. against Oregon
State in Pool 4. If the Wolverines win, they
would wrestle the winner of the James Madison and Eastern
Michigan Dual. The winner of each Pool will play in an
evening Championship Tournament.
